One of my favorite views.

I snapped a few pictures of her the other day as I was going into her room after she had woken up from a nap. Usually, she lays in her bed when she wakes up for ten minutes just chatting to herself. We added bumpers a bit ago so she wouldn’t get her limbs stuck in the slats, but since she has figured how to pull them down, they will be coming out soon.

Sweet little Mama Bear.

So that I can remember.

Sundays are rough. I am only half joking when I say that they a true test of my faith. It would be much easier to skip out and stay at home. Church was cake the first few months of Sofi’s life. She either slept or sat nicely during it all. Our ward starts at nine, which is exactly the time she goes down for her morning nap. So, every Sunday, we have a super cranky baby and I just want to run out of there. And it doesn’t help that people always want to talk and play with her, which is so not her personality. She prefers to take a slow start with most others.

Well, this last Sunday I almost skipped with joy out of the parking lot at the end of church. She was pretty good during the first hour. She made nice with another baby girl.

Title

This is what the last bit of sacrament and the entire second hour looked like. Yes, I monopolized one of the mothers’ room and yes, I downloaded the white noise app and sat there for almost an hour and a half. This girl is serious about needing her naps. While I did miss Sunday School, we made it through the entire hour of Relief Society. She ate lunch in her stroller and then played on the ground with her toys. And…AND she didn’t growl at anybody! In fact, she crawled right up to a lady and let her pick her up and played with her for a couple of minutes! Are we turning a corner?? I didn’t even care when she made a beeline for a little boy’s lone Cheerio that had fallen on the floor.

Title

And after church, we of course took pictures to document this big event.

Title

Big smiles all around.

Title

And then we stuck her in her baby pool. Not :)

So…

Title

…a very not fun thing happened to me yesterday. First, things were good. Mama dressed me up in something too cute. Dada took pictures. Basically, what we do every day.

Title

It looked kind of like a bath tub. Why is it outside? Mama put me in.

Title

Um. Yeah. This is NOT a bath!

Title

They gave me some little toy. Is this supposed to make the water warmer?? Not working!

Title

I don’t like this, mama! Why are you guys taking pictures of me? Take. Me. Out!

Title

They finally took me out of that horrible thing. Dada carried me in, but I still kept my eye on the torture tub.

Title

Then, I started thinking about how cold that water was. And it made me so sad.

Title

I feel a little better now.

Title

Let’s not do that again, okay? Please…?

Oh BOY!!!

Title

We feel like we’ve hit the jackpot twice! Seriously. I am so excited to meet baby brother, and I think he knew yesterday was a big day for him because he sure did kick a lot! I love my little guy already and can’t wait to see our perfect little pair become best friends.

Can’t wait to go back!

I’m getting better at this.

I finally got around to using my handy dandy Apple picture uploader thing that allows me to upload pictures from our nice camera onto my iPad. So, I have some major picture sharing to do. I may do that bits at a time. We’ll see. With being a working pregnant mama that has about a month left till Girls Camp, I keep pretty pretty busy. But here are a few Instagrams to tide you over.

Day 19: A favorite place. CW. And anywhere this little mama bear is! #photoadaymay One evening last week, we decided it was too gorgeous outside to stay in for dinner. We bought sandwiches at the Cheese Shop, set out blankets in front of the Governor’s Palace in Colonial Williamsburg, and had a wonderful time together as a family. The Marquis de Lafayette passed by on his horse, but Sofia was not impressed.

Sofi loved her uncle Josh! And I loved getting cuddles from Mav.

Yesterday, the three of us drove down to the Outer Banks, NC for the afternoon to meet up with Josh, Kallie and Mav. It was so fun! I was a little apprehensive because it rained on the way there, but it turned out to be a perfect afternoon. We got lunch at a local seafood grill, and since it had stopped raining, we took the babies down to the beach so they could dip their feet in the ocean. Firsts for both! On the way home, Chris and I kept saying how making the 2.5 hour drive to meet them was so worth it. We hope they’ll be joining us on this side of the country soon :)

Day 20: Can't live without...these two! #photoadaymay

Sofi and Dada. Such good friends :)

8.5 Months

When Mickey is on, I'm chopped liver.

I have been so bad at updating her monthly changes, and I keep thinking I’ll commit to do better. Oh well.

This last month and a half have been huge developmentally for her. She changes and grows every single day! For example, she went from sitting okay for a bit by herself to all of a sudden needing no help the next day. She loves taking baths in the big tub now that she can sit up, and especially loves bubbles. Some other things about our baby girl…

- Is not super friendly, to be honest. She loves mama and dada and whines and growls at others a lot. This is a problem because everywhere we go people want to talk to her, and I find myself constantly apologizing and saying, “Sorry! She is just not being friendly right now!” I hope she grows out of this!

- She is starting to really understand certain words we say. Most are in Spanish.

- Is a total homebody. While she is great when we take her out, she prefers to be home with her toys.

- Her hair is getting longer! I love making hair clips now that they stay in.

- Is an awesome sleeper! She takes two naps a day, and we have cut out her catnap. She goes to bed around 6:45 and stays asleep till 7 AM. Sometimes she wakes a littler earlier, sometimes later.

- Loves reading books! And much to our pleasure, doesn’t try to eat them :) Daddy is very happy about that.

- Crawls so well now. It’s not a perfect looking crawl, but it works for her. Fortunately, she has not tried to venture into the bathroom alone yet.

- Continues to be a fantastic eater. The one and only thing she has not liked yet so far are fresh strawberries. Enjoys salmon, but not fresh strawberries? We can’t figure it out either.

- Thinks being chased around the house is THE most fun thing ever. Before her dinner and bath, the three of us spend some time playing, and it’s always the highlight of my day.

Day 12: Something that makes you happy. There are so many things, but this one is hard to beat!

Love my little mama bear!

To those who made me a mother…

Day 15: Love. One of my favorite shots of these two. #photoadaymay

Dear Chrisser,

Thanks for making my dreams come true by helping me create this beautiful little girl. She is all I ever wanted, aside from you. Can you believe we’re adding another one to the mix? We make a good team. And pretty wonderful babies :)

Mother's Day should be everyday!

Baby Girl,

You made me a mother.  The one thing I always always wanted. When I was little, I always played with baby dolls and dreamed about what you would like like someday. Motherhood has been absolutely beautiful and the most rewarding thing I have ever done. Did you know that I miss you when you’re asleep? Did you know that I would give my life for you? You are my littlest best friend.  We just get each other, and I need you like the air I breathe.  Baby brother or baby sister will fit right in, I know it.

And to my little one on the way…

Boy, were you a surprise, you little miracle, you! I am certain you are coming to us now for a reason. Of that I am positive. I can’t wait to meet you. I love to feel you kick and move.  I know this sounds crazy, but I am already so looking forward to the spit up and our middle of the night feedings. They are just so special. Love you already, baby.

Where’s the baby?

My Spanish girls are hilarious. I really need to write down more of the things they say. Some of note from this last Monday…

One of the younger girls is obsessed with my belly. Rubbing it. Poking it. Hugging it. Asking me about me belly button, because let’s be honest, it had not recovered during the 5.2 seconds that I was not pregnant. Well, at one point she said in Spanish, “The baby is in your belly!” To which an older and obviously quite knowledgeable (9 year-old) classmate responded, “No, it’s not. It’s in her uterus.”

Why, yes it is, C. Yes. It. Is.

19.5 Weeks

Day 6: You . Nineteen weeks! Almost halfway :)
Guys. I am almost half way! What!? I have been simply awful at documenting this baby bump, and will try to do better. Here is our little babe at 19.5 weeks. We find out on the 22nd (if baby cooperates) if Sofi will have a little brother or sister to yell at. If you didn’t know, she is quite the vocal little lady. I am seriously SO excited! Can’t wait to work on the second nursery!

*Random pregnancy thoughts: This pregnancy is basically identical to my last. Besides feeling a bit queasy during week 5, I have been feeling great. Tired, but that’s normal. Craving the exact same things. Lemon juice with everything, please! I’ve been feeling baby move regularly now, and Chris has felt it, too. About 1 million times a day I think, “Okay. Am I seriously doing this all over again?? I was JUST here!”  But then I feel so grateful that we have been blessed with not one, but two little miracle babies, and that I have body that has been able to accommodate to them wonderfully. I’ve learned that things don’t always go as planned, but sometimes a better plan creeps up on you when you LEAST expect it. I already love this little family of four.
